Ingredients

Scale
  • ⅔ cup canned pumpkin puree
  • ¼ cup + 1 tbsp cold heavy cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 and ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 and ¾ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ½ cup + 1 tbsp cold salted butter
  • 12 tbsp extra heavy cream
  • raw sugar
  • ¼ cup salted butter
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp bourbon
  • 1 and ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, spices, salt, brown sugar, and granulated sugar.
  3. Cut the cold butter into the dry ingredients until crumbly, then mix in the pumpkin puree, heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract until just combined.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface, gently knead it a few times, and shape it into a circle about 1-inch thick.
  5. Cut the dough into wedges and place them on the prepared baking sheet; brush with heavy cream and sprinkle with raw sugar.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. While the scones are baking, prepare the maple glaze by whisking together melted butter, maple syrup, salt, powdered sugar, bourbon, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  8. Once the scones are done, drizzle the glaze over the warm scones and let it set before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider adding chopped pecans or walnuts to the scone dough. Enjoy your scones warm for the best taste!
