Description
Delight in the exquisite flavors of Vanilla Bourbon Poached Pears, a sophisticated dessert that perfectly marries the sweetness of pears with the warmth of bourbon and aromatic spices.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups water
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup bourbon
- ¼ cup fresh orange juice
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 teaspoons vanilla bean paste or 1 vanilla pod sliced in half
- 4 medium bosc pears
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, combine the water, sugar, bourbon, orange juice, cinnamon sticks, and vanilla. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
- Once boiling, reduce heat to a simmer and add the peeled pears. Allow the pears to simmer for about 30 minutes, or until they are tender.
- Remove the pears from the liquid and let them cool slightly. Continue to simmer the poaching liquid until it thickens slightly, about 10 minutes.
- Serve the pears drizzled with the syrup and enjoy!
Notes
For extra flavor, let the pears cool in the poaching liquid before serving. This dessert pairs beautifully with vanilla ice cream.
