Ingredients
1 box of chocolate cake mix (or homemade chocolate cake)
1 cup of water
1/2 cup of vegetable oil
3 large eggs
8 oz cream cheese
softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup fresh strawberries
hulled and chopped
1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Additional strawberries for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until well blended.
- Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared baking pan.
- In another bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Stir in the chopped strawberries.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture over the batter in the pan. Top with the remaining cake batter, carefully spreading it over the filling.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips and chopped nuts on top. Let it cool before serving.
- Serve slices garnished with additional strawberries.
