Description
This Slow Cooker Apple Butter is a delightful, spiced spread perfect for fall. Made with fresh apples and warm spices, it’s an easy and delicious treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 5 lbs. apples
- Any variety works fine! (I use gala)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- packed
- 1 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
- 2 dashes salt
Instructions
- Core and chop the apples into chunks, leaving the skin on for extra flavor.
- Place the chopped apples into the slow cooker, then add the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
- Stir to combine all the ingredients, then cover and cook on low for about 8 hours or until the apples are soft.
- Once cooked, use an immersion blender to puree the mixture until smooth, or transfer in batches to a blender.
- If you prefer a thicker apple butter, return to the slow cooker and cook on high for an additional hour with the lid off.
- Let cool slightly before transferring to jars for storage.
Notes
This apple butter can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or can be canned for longer storage. Adjust the spices to your liking!
