Ingredients
Scale
- Cooking spray
- for pan
- 1 box Devil’s Food Cake
- 1 package chocolate pudding
- 1 cup sour cream
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup water
- 10 Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
- halved
- for topping
- 1/2 cup Reese’s pieces
- for topping
- 2 cups unsalted butter
- 8 cups powdered sugar
- 1 1/4 cups creamy peanut butter
- 7 Tbsp. whole milk
- pinch of kosher salt
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray the cake pans with cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, combine the Devil’s Food Cake mix, chocolate pudding, sour cream, eggs, and water. Mix until well combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- While the cake cools, prepare the peanut butter frosting by beating together the unsalted butter, powdered sugar, creamy peanut butter, whole milk, and kosher salt until smooth and creamy.
- For the ganache, heat the heavy cream in a saucepan until it starts to simmer, then pour it over the semisweet chocolate chips. Let it sit for a few minutes and then stir until smooth.
- Once the cakes are completely cool, frost one layer with the peanut butter frosting, top with half of the halved Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and a bit of the ganache, then place the second layer on top.
- Frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining peanut butter frosting and drizzle with more ganache. Top with the remaining Reese’s cups and Reese’s pieces.
Notes
Ensure the cakes are completely cool before frosting to prevent the frosting from melting.
