Description

Deliciously spiced Pumpkin French Toast Sticks that are perfect for breakfast or a sweet treat!


Ingredients

  • 1 loaf french bread
  • slightly stale
  • 24 Tbsp. butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 2/3 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 Tbsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice*
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, pumpkin puree, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice until well combined.
  3. Dip each slice of french bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side.
  4. In a skillet, melt 1-2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat and cook the dipped bread slices until golden brown on each side, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Combine the sugar and cinnamon for the coating in a shallow dish. Once the toast sticks are cooked, coat them in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  6. Place the coated sticks on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes until they are heated through and slightly crispy.
  7. Serve warm with maple syrup, whipped cream, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For a homemade pumpkin pie spice, mix 3 Tbs. of ground cinnamon, 3 tsp. of nutmeg, 2 tsp. of ground ginger, 1 tsp. of ground allspice, and 1 tsp. of ground cloves.
