Description

  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • softened
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 tsp of instant yeast, and 1 tsp of salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup of warm milk, 1/2 cup of pumpkin puree, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, 1/4 cup of melted butter, and 1 large egg.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth, then let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 2 tsp of ground cinnamon, 1/2 tsp of ground nutmeg, and 1/4 cup of pumpkin puree.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread 2 tbsp of melted butter followed by the filling mixture evenly on top.
  7. Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into 12 pieces, placing them in a greased baking pan.
  8. Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes before baking in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes.
  9. For the glaze, whisk together 1/3 cup of maple syrup, 2 tbsp of melted butter, and 1 tbsp of powdered sugar.
  10. In a separate bowl, mix 4 oz of softened cream cheese, 2 tbsp of powdered sugar, and 1 tsp of vanilla extract until smooth.
  11. Remove the rolls from the oven and drizzle with the glaze and cream cheese frosting before serving.

Notes

These cinnamon rolls can be made a day ahead. Simply prepare the rolls up to the point of baking, refrigerate overnight, and then bake in the morning for fresh rolls.
