Description
This Jalapeno Cheddar Dutch Oven Bread is a deliciously cheesy and spicy bread that’s perfect for any meal. Baked in a Dutch oven for a perfectly crusty exterior and soft, warm insides.

- 3 1/2 cups bread flour
- 1 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 large jalapeno diced
- 2 cups warm water
- 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast (1 standard .25oz packet)
- 1/3 – 1/2 cup shredded cheddar
- 10 round slices jalapeno (or more
- to taste)
Instructions
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the bread flour, kosher salt, shredded cheddar cheese, and diced jalapeno.
- In a separate large mixing bowl, mix the warm water and instant yeast until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and place a Dutch oven inside to heat.
- After the dough has risen, shape it into a round loaf and place it on parchment paper.
- Carefully remove the hot Dutch oven, place the dough inside, and sprinkle the top with additional cheddar cheese and jalapeno slices.
- Cover and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 10 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
For extra heat, you can add more jalapeno slices on top or even mix in some diced jalapenos into the dough.
