Description

Hatch Chile Salsa Verde is a vibrant and zesty green sauce that brings a touch of heat and flavor to your favorite dishes. Made with fresh tomatillos and hatch chiles, it’s perfect for tacos, grilled meats, and more.


Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds tomatillos
  • fresh
  • husks and stems removed
  • 4 hatch chiles
  • stemmed
  • ½ cup white onion
  • chopped
  • ½ cup cilantro leaves
  • fresh
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 limes
  • medium
  • juiced
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Place the tomatillos and hatch chiles on a baking sheet.
  2. Roast for 15-20 minutes, or until the tomatillos are soft and slightly charred.
  3. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Peel the hatch chiles and remove the seeds if desired.
  4. In a blender, combine the roasted tomatillos, hatch chiles, onion, cilantro, garlic, lime juice, salt, and black pepper. Blend until smooth.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve fresh with chips or as a topping for your favorite meals.

Notes

For a spicier salsa, leave some seeds in the hatch chiles. This salsa can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
