- 1/2 pound habanero peppers chopped (cored/innards removed if desired for less heat)
- 4 cups granulated sugar
- 1 1/4 cups cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 ounces liquid fruit pectin
- 4 drops food coloring if preferred
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, combine the chopped habanero peppers, granulated sugar, cider vinegar, lemon juice, and salt. Stir well to mix.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar has dissolved.
- Once boiling, add the liquid fruit pectin and food coloring (if using). Stir until fully incorporated.
- Continue boiling for 10-15 minutes, or until the jam reaches the desired consistency, stirring frequently.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly before transferring to sterilized jars. Seal and refrigerate.
Notes
For a milder jam, remove the seeds and inner membranes of the habanero peppers. Adjust the amount of sugar based on your desired sweetness.
