- 3–4 cups broccoli florets
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 2–3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 8–10 cranks freshly-ground black pepper
- Sesame seeds (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add broccoli florets and sauté for about 5 minutes until tender but still crisp.
- Push the broccoli to one side of the skillet and add ground beef to the other side.
- Cook the beef until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, ground ginger, red pepper flakes, and black pepper.
- Pour the sauce over the beef and broccoli and stir to combine, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds if desired.
Notes
Feel free to adjust the level of spiciness by adding more or less red pepper flakes according to your taste.
