  • ¾ cup (150g) brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • 4 ounces (113g) cream cheese
  • softened
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • softened
  • 1½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine bread flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together warm milk, eggs, and softened butter.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a towel; let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  6. Prepare the cinnamon filling by mixing softened butter, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt in a bowl until smooth.
  7. Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick.
  8. Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough.
  9. Roll the dough tightly from one end to the other, then slice into 12 equal pieces.
  10. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  11. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  12. While the rolls are baking, make the Ghost Cream Cheese Icing by beating together cream cheese, softened butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, heavy cream (or milk), and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  13. Drizzle the icing over the warm cinnamon rolls before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add nuts or raisins to the cinnamon filling. Ensure the dough is warm for proper yeast activation.
