This Fresh Cherry Sorbet is a refreshing and fruity dessert perfect for hot summer days.
Ingredients
Scale
4 cups cherries
pitted (~2 lbs)
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
3 tsp. lime juice
freshly squeezed
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine sugar and water over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves to create a simple syrup.
- Add pitted cherries, lime juice, and salt to the simple syrup. Simmer for about 10 minutes until cherries are softened.
- Remove from heat and let cool. Then blend the mixture in a blender until smooth.
- Pour the mixture into a shallow dish and freeze for 2-3 hours or until solid. Stir every 30 minutes for the first 2 hours to ensure a smooth texture.
- Once frozen, scoop into bowls and serve chilled.
Notes
For a smoother texture, blend the sorbet again before serving. You can also adjust the lime juice for desired tartness.
