- 1 cup boiling water
- ½ cup white sugar
- ½ cup chopped walnuts
- 2 large eggs
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup whole wheat flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the chopped dates, figs, and boiling water. Let it sit for 10 minutes to soften.
- Add the butter, white sugar, and eggs to the fruit mixture, mixing well until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Fold in the chopped walnuts.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
