Description

Ingredients

1 cup dark brown sugar

3 large eggs

1 3/4 cups cake flour

1 1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp allspice

1/2 tsp freshly grated nutmeg

1/4 tsp ground cloves

1/2 cup cultured buttermilk

2 cups diced peaches

skin on

1 tsp coarse sparkling sugar


Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the dark brown sugar and unsalted butter until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the cake flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, and ground cloves.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the cultured buttermilk, and mix until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the diced peaches.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle the coarse sparkling sugar on top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, use ripe peaches and allow the bread to cool completely before slicing for easier serving.
