Description

Indulge in this Easy Reese’s Peanut Butter Poke Cake Recipe, a delightful dessert that combines rich chocolate cake with creamy peanut butter filling, topped with silky chocolate ganache and crunchy Reese’s cups.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) chocolate cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup mini Reese’s cups

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven according to the chocolate cake mix package instructions. Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and water. Mix until well combined and smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake according to the package instructions, usually around 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. While the cake is baking, prepare the poke filling by whisking together the sweetened condensed milk, peanut butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes. Then, use the back of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the top of the cake.
  6. Pour the peanut butter filling over the warm cake, ensuring it seeps into the holes. Let it cool completely.
  7. For the peanut butter layer, beat together the creamy peanut butter, softened butter, and powdered sugar. Add milk, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach a spreadable consistency.
  8. Spread the peanut butter layer over the cooled cake.
  9. To make the ganache, heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan until just simmering. Pour it over the chocolate chips in a bowl and let sit for a few minutes. Stir until smooth and shiny.
  10. Pour the chocolate ganache over the peanut butter layer and spread evenly.
  11. Top with chopped mini Reese’s cups. For an extra flair, drizzle with melted peanut butter or chocolate syrup if desired.
  12. Slice and serve this delicious poke cake chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

Ensure your eggs are at room temperature for the best mixing results. You can adjust the milk amount in the peanut butter layer based on your desired consistency.
