- ½ cup cooked and chopped smoked turkey or turkey sausage
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup onion (diced)
- 2 sticks celery (diced)
- 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 lb Yukon potatoes (peeled & diced small)
- 6 tablespoons flour
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese shredded
- salt & pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup pickles diced (optional)
Instructions
- In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat and add the diced onion and celery. Sauté until the vegetables are softened.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Stir in the ground beef and cooked turkey or sausage, cooking until the beef is browned.
- Sprinkle the flour over the meat mixture and stir to combine, cooking for about 2 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in the chicken broth, ensuring there are no lumps. Add the diced potatoes and bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat and simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 15 minutes.
- Stir in the heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, and shredded cheddar cheese until the cheese is melted and the soup is creamy.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot and top with pickles if desired.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding your favorite spices or herbs. This soup can also be made in advance and frozen for easy meals later.
