- 3 cups bread flour or plain/all purpose
- 1 tablespoon white granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons dried yeast instant or rapid rise
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- Add the warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for 12 to 18 hours.
- After resting, preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and place a Dutch oven inside to heat up.
- Once the oven is hot, carefully remove the Dutch oven and place the dough inside, cover it, and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the lid and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the bread is golden brown.
- Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
For a more flavorful bread, consider adding herbs or cheese to the dough before the first rise.
