Ingredients

  1. 2 large chicken breasts
  2. 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  3. Salt & pepper to taste
  4. Flour for dredging
  5. 1 tablespoon olive oil
  6. 3 tablespoons butter divided
  7. 8 ounces cremini mushrooms sliced
  8. 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  9. 2 cloves garlic minced
  10. 1/2 cup dry white wine
  11. 3/4 cup heavy/whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken breasts with garlic powder, salt, and pepper, then dredge them in flour.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter. Once melted, add the chicken breasts and cook until browned on both sides and cooked through, about 6-7 minutes per side. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining butter and sliced mushrooms. Sauté until the mushrooms are browned, about 5-6 minutes. Stir in Italian seasoning and minced garlic, cooking for another minute.
  4. Pour in the dry white wine and scrape up any brown bits from the bottom. Let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, spooning some sauce over the top. Let it warm through for a couple of minutes.
  7. Serve the creamy white wine mushroom chicken over pasta or rice, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

For a lighter version, you can substitute half and half for the heavy cream.
