Description
This Creamy Kielbasa Broccoli Skillet is a comforting, easy-to-make dish that combines pasta, fresh broccoli, and savory kielbasa in a rich cheese sauce.
Ingredients
8 ounces penne pasta
2 cups (182 g) fresh broccoli florets quartered
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 ring (13.9 ounces) kielbasa cut into ¼-inch slices
1 small yellow onion finely diced (about ½ cup)
1 teaspoon garlic minced
1 ½ cups (367.5 g) whole milk
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 ½ cups (169.5 g) mild cheddar cheese shredded
salt and pepper to taste
parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the penne pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the garlic and sliced kielbasa, cooking for another 3-4 minutes until the kielbasa is browned.
- Add the broccoli florets to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until just tender.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the whole milk and cornstarch together until smooth. Pour this mixture into the skillet and bring to a simmer.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and the sauce is creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the drained penne pasta to the skillet and stir until well coated with the creamy sauce.
- Garnish with parsley before serving.
Notes
Feel free to substitute the kielbasa with any smoked sausage of your choice, and adjust the cheese type for variation.
