This Creamy Cinnamon Apple and Walnut Fruit Salad combines crisp apples, creamy dressing, and crunchy walnuts for a delightful and refreshing dessert.

- 1 (8 oz) pkg. Neufchatel cheese
- softened slightly (light cream cheese)
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 (8 oz) pkg. light sour cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 lbs crisp
- sweet apples
- chilled (I used a combo of Gala
- Jazz and Golden Delicious)
- 2 cups cold water
- for soaking apples
- 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
- for soaking apples
- 1 cup chopped Fishers Walnuts
- 3/4 cup dried cranberries
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, blend the Neufchatel cheese, light brown sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, light sour cream, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Slice the apples into bite-sized pieces, then soak them in a mixture of cold water and lemon juice for about 5-10 minutes to prevent browning.
- Drain the apple slices and pat them dry with a paper towel.
- In a large bowl, combine the apple slices, chopped walnuts, and dried cranberries.
- Gently fold in the creamy dressing until the apples are well-coated.
- Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 1 hour before serving for an ideal flavor.
Notes
Feel free to mix and match different types of apples for varied flavors and textures. This salad is best enjoyed fresh but can be refrigerated for a short period.
