Instructions
- In a deep pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until hot.
- In a bowl, mix together ¼ cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon for the cinnamon sugar topping.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, 3 tablespoons sugar, ½ teaspoon cinnamon, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine the milk, maple syrup, egg, and 1 tablespoon oil.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Dip each apple ring into the batter and carefully place them in the hot oil, frying them in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove the fritters and drain on paper towels. While still warm, coat each fritter in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
