Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the egg or applesauce, granulated sugar, light brown sugar, canola oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Add any desired spices such as nutmeg, cloves, or ginger.
- Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Drop tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
