Delightfully sweet and easy to make, Cinnamon Sugar French Toast Roll-Ups are a fun twist on a classic breakfast favorite. These roll-ups are perfect for a weekend brunch or a special treat any day of the week.
Ingredients
6 slices of bread (white or brioche)
2 large eggs
1/4 cup (60ml) milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons (25g) granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter
melted
Instructions
- Trim the crusts off the bread slices and flatten each slice with a rolling pin.
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In another bowl, mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
- Spread a little melted butter on one side of each slice of bread, and sprinkle a bit of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over it.
- Roll each slice tightly from one end to the other and secure it with a toothpick if necessary.
- Dip each roll in the egg mixture, ensuring they are well coated.
- Melt some butter in a large frying pan over medium heat and cook the roll-ups until golden brown on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove the roll-ups from the pan and roll them in the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Serve warm, optionally with maple syrup or fresh fruit.
Notes
For added flavor, you can stuff the rolls with cream cheese or Nutella before rolling them up. Make sure to watch them closely while cooking to prevent burning.
