  • 11/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 11/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 large apple peeled cored and chopped into small pieces
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
  6. In another bowl, combine the brown sugar and ground cinnamon. Toss the chopped apples in this mixture, then fold them into the batter.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  8. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon for the topping and sprinkle it over the batter.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. After baking, let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. For the glaze, whisk together confectioners’ sugar, ground cinnamon, and water until smooth, then drizzle over the cooled bread.
