- 1–1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1–1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened (1 stick)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar packed
- 1–1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 large apple peeled

- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 3/4 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the vanilla extract and eggs to the butter mixture, mixing well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture alternately with milk, mixing just until combined.
- In a separate bowl, toss the chopped apple with brown sugar and cinnamon, then fold into the batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top.
- For the topping, mix together brown sugar and cinnamon, and sprinkle it over the batter.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool before glazing.
- To make the glaze, whisk together confectioners’ sugar, cinnamon, and water until smooth, then drizzle over the bread before serving.
Notes
For best results, use a tart apple for added flavor. You can also add nuts or raisins for extra texture.
