- 1–1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1–1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
- (1 stick)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar packed
- 1–1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 large apple peeled cored and chopped into small pieces
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 3/4 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the vanilla extract and eggs, mixing well after each addition.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, until just combined.
- In a separate bowl, mix the light brown sugar and ground cinnamon, then fold in the chopped apple pieces.
- Gently fold the apple mixture into the batter until evenly distributed.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and ground cinnamon for the topping, then sprinkle it over the batter.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the glaze, whisk together the confectioners’ sugar, ground cinnamon, and water in a small bowl until smooth.
- Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread before slicing and serving.
Notes
Store any leftover bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. This recipe can be easily doubled for larger gatherings.
