Ingredients

  • 11/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 11/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 large apple peeled cored and chopped into small pieces
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the vanilla extract and eggs, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, until just combined.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix the light brown sugar and ground cinnamon, then fold in the chopped apple pieces.
  7. Gently fold the apple mixture into the batter until evenly distributed.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  9. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and ground cinnamon for the topping, then sprinkle it over the batter.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  11. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  12. For the glaze, whisk together the confectioners’ sugar, ground cinnamon, and water in a small bowl until smooth.
  13. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread before slicing and serving.

Notes

Store any leftover bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. This recipe can be easily doubled for larger gatherings.
