3 tablespoons garlic scapes

finely diced

2 tablespoons scallions

finely diced

1 cup cheddar cheese

grated

1 cup (245g) buttermilk

cold

2 tablespoons butter

1/2 teaspoon sea or kosher salt


Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Grate the frozen butter into a mixing bowl and add flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix until well combined.
  • Stir in the garlic scapes, scallions, and cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
  • Make a well in the center and pour in the cold buttermilk. Mix just until the dough forms.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently about 5 times. Pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle.
  • Cut the biscuits with a round cutter and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Melt 2 tablespoons of butter and brush over the tops of the biscuits, then sprinkle with sea salt.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
