Ingredients
Ground beef: 80/20 blend
Onion: finely diced
Garlic: 1 clove minced
Salt and black pepper to taste
Ketchup and yellow mustard
Worcestershire sauce: splash
Sandwich bread: choice of white
whole wheat
or brioche
Cheddar cheese: slices
Unsalted butter: softened
Dill pickle chips: optional
Tomato: sliced
Lettuce: shredded iceberg
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula until it’s browned. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, seasoning with salt and pepper. Cook until the onions are translucent.
- Stir in ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread. On the unbuttered side, layer a slice of cheddar cheese, followed by a generous scoop of the cheeseburger mixture, and another slice of cheese. Top with another slice of bread, buttered side up.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side, pressing down gently with a spatula.
- Once both sides are golden and the cheese is melted, remove from the skillet. Slice and serve with optional dill pickle chips, tomato, and lettuce on the side.
