- 1 1/2 cups (195g) all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup (56g) unsalted butter

- 1/4 cup (52g) sugar
- 1/2 cup (112g) packed brown sugar
- 3/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 tbsp (43g) sour cream
- 2 large eggs
- 3/4 cup (180ml) milk
- 1 cup finely chopped apple
- 1 1/4 cups (280g) unsalted butter
- room temperature
- 5 cups (575g) powdered sugar
- 4–6 tbsp caramel sauce
- pinch of ground cinnamon

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake tin with cupcake liners.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter, oil, sugar, and brown sugar until creamy.
- Add the vanilla extract, sour cream, and eggs, mixing until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped apples.
- Divide the batter among the prepared cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cupcakes cool completely on a wire rack.
- For the caramel buttercream, beat the butter until fluffy, then gradually add the powdered sugar.
- Add the caramel sauce and cinnamon, mixing until smooth and creamy.
- Frost the cooled cupcakes generously with caramel buttercream, drizzle additional caramel sauce, and decorate with apple slices.
Notes
Store cupcakes in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For richer flavor, use homemade caramel sauce.
