1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

1 pinch salt

1 tablespoon vanilla extract


Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, whisk together 3 cups of whole milk, 1 ½ cups of white sugar, ¼ cup melted butter, 3 beaten eggs, 2 tablespoons of light brown sugar, and ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
  • Add the toasted and cubed bread and raisins to the mixture, gently folding until well combined.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the pudding is set and slightly golden.
  • While it’s baking, prepare the vanilla sauce by whisking together 1 ¼ cups of whole milk, ½ cup of light brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of melted butter, 1 egg, 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour, a pinch of ground cinnamon, a pinch of salt, and 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract in a saucepan.
  • Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until it thickens.
  • Serve the bread pudding warm, drizzled with the vanilla sauce.

Notes

For an extra flavor boost, consider adding a splash of bourbon or rum to the vanilla sauce.
