Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Use heart-shaped cookie cutters to cut out cookies and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let the cookies cool before decorating with royal icing or colored sprinkles.
Notes
For best results, chill the dough for about 30 minutes before rolling it out. This will help the cookies hold their shape while baking.
