Ingredients
Hot Dogs & Buns:
4 all-beef hot dogs (8–10 oz / 225–280 g)
4 poppy seed hot dog buns
Toppings:
½ cup (120 g) diced white onion
1 large tomato, thinly sliced into wedges
4 kosher dill pickle spears
8 sport peppers (adjust to spice preference)
¼ cup (80 g) neon green sweet relish
1 teaspoon celery salt
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
Optional Garnish:
Fresh parsley or chopped chives
Freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
Prepare the Ingredients
Wash all vegetables. Dice onions, slice tomatoes into thin wedges, and cut pickles into spears. Slice sport peppers if needed.
Cook the Hot Dogs
Simmering: Bring a medium saucepan of water to a gentle boil. Reduce to simmer, add hot dogs, and cook 5–7 minutes.
Steaming: Place hot dogs in a steamer basket over boiling water and cover. Steam 5–6 minutes.
Toast the Buns (Optional)
Lightly toast cut-side down in a skillet for 1–2 minutes or under a broiler until golden.
Assemble the Chicago Dogs
Place hot dogs in buns.
Spread yellow mustard on each hot dog.
Spoon neon green relish along one side, add diced onions, tuck tomato wedges along the other side.
Insert a pickle spear on each side and top with 2 sport peppers.
Sprinkle with celery salt and optional parsley or chives.
