This is the BEST Snickerdoodle Recipe, resulting in perfectly soft and chewy cookies that will melt in your mouth.

1 cup salted butter
2 sticks
softened
1 and 1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar
packed
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 and 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
spooned and leveled
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 and 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1/3 cup granulated sugar for rolling
1 and 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cream of tartar.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon for rolling.
- Roll the dough into balls and then roll each ball in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For a chewier cookie, do not overbake. The cookies will continue to set as they cool.
