Ingredients

Puff pastry

Fresh strawberries

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut it into rectangles.
  • In a bowl, mix sliced strawberries with lemon juice and granulated sugar to create the compote. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
  • In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and optional almond extract until smooth. Adjust sweetness with powdered sugar if desired.
  • Place a dollop of the cream cheese mixture on one rectangle and add a spoonful of strawberry compote on top. Top with another pastry rectangle and seal the edges with a fork.
  • Repeat the process for all rectangles. Brush the tops with a little beaten egg for a shiny finish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and flaky.
  • Allow to cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
