7 g active dry yeast
240 ml warm water (43°C)
80 ml olive oil
plus extra for greasing
13 g sugar
5 g salt
65 g pecans
chopped
90 g brown sugar
packed
60 g butter
5 ml vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
- Add flour, olive oil, and salt to the yeast mixture and stir until combined.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Spread the dough into a greased baking pan.
- In a saucepan, melt butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract over medium heat, stirring until combined.
- Pour the butter mixture over the dough and sprinkle with chopped pecans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, try using toasted pecans. This bread is best enjoyed warm on the day it’s made.
