Description

These Spicy Lime Fish Tacos are a delightful combination of zesty fish, crunchy slaw, and a creamy cilantro dressing, all wrapped in warm tortillas for a perfect meal.


Ingredients

500 g (1.1 lb) white fish fillets (such as cod

2 tbsp olive oil

1 ½ tsp chili powder

1 tsp ground cumin

½ tsp smoked paprika

½ tsp garlic powder

Zest and juice of 1 lime

½ tsp sea salt

¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper

2 cups finely shredded green cabbage

1 cup finely shredded red cabbage

1 small carrot

grated

2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro

2 tbsp lime juice

1 tbsp olive oil

½ tsp salt

120 g (½ cup) sour cream or Greek yogurt

2 tbsp mayonnaise

2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro

1 tbsp lime juice

1 small garlic clove

minced

Salt and pepper

to taste

8 small flour or corn tortillas

warmed

1 ripe avocado

sliced

Extra cilantro leaves and lime wedges

for garnish


Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  • In a bowl, combine olive oil, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, lime zest, lime juice, sea salt, and black pepper.
  • Coat the fish fillets in the spice mixture and place them on a baking sheet.
  • Bake the fish for 15-20 minutes or until cooked through and flaky.
  • While the fish bakes, prepare the slaw by mixing together green cabbage, red cabbage, grated carrot, cilantro, lime juice, olive oil, and salt in a bowl.
  • For the cilantro crema, whisk together sour cream (or Greek yogurt), mayonnaise, cilantro, lime juice, minced garlic, salt, and pepper in a separate bowl.
  • Once the fish is done, warm the tortillas and assemble the tacos by adding fish, slaw, and a drizzle of cilantro crema.
  • Top with sliced avocado, extra cilantro leaves, and lime wedges for garnish before serving.

Notes

Feel free to adjust the spice level by adding more chili powder or using a spicy salsa for extra heat.
