2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 cup warm water
Optional: melted butter for brushing after baking
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the sourdough discard, warm water, and sugar and mix until well combined.
- Add the flour, baking soda, and salt, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes on a floured surface until smooth.
- Cover and let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and roll each into a ball.
- Boil a large pot of water, adding 1 teaspoon of baking soda to the water.
- Carefully drop in the pretzel bites, boiling for about 30 seconds on each side, then remove and place on the baking sheet.
- Sprinkle with flaky sea salt before baking.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Optional: brush with melted butter after baking for extra flavor.
