Ingredients

6 cups Rice Krispies cereal (or any crisp rice cereal)

10 ounces mini marshmallows (about 5 1/2 cups)

plus 1 cup extra for extra-gooey texture

6 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

Optional mix-ins: pastel sprinkles

mini chocolate eggs

M&M’s

shredded coconut

Optional decorations: melted white or milk chocolate

Instructions

  • In a large pot, melt the butter over low heat.
  • Add the 10 ounces of mini marshmallows and stir until fully melted and smooth.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt for flavor enhancement.
  • Remove the pot from heat and carefully mix in the Rice Krispies cereal and any optional mix-ins until well combined.
  • Grease the plastic Easter egg molds or silicone egg molds with nonstick spray.
  • Press the mixture firmly into the molds, filling them to the top.
  • Once filled, let the treats cool for about 30 minutes to set.
  • Carefully remove the treats from the molds and decorate with optional melted chocolate or candy melts as desired.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with different mix-ins and decorations to create unique variations of these treats. For extra-gooeyness, the additional cup of mini marshmallows can be added directly to the mixture before pressing into molds.
