Description
Delightful bundles of tender asparagus wrapped in prosciutto and encased in flaky puff pastry, perfect for a special appetizer or snack.
Ingredients
Scale
2 sheets of puff pastry
thawed but still cold
2 bunches of asparagus About 24 medium stalks
or 32 small stalks
12 slices of prosciutto Substitute parma ham if desired
1 cup gruyere cheese
shredded
4 teaspoon dijon mustard
1 egg
olive oil
salt & pepper
flaky sea salt Optional
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface and cut each sheet into rectangles.
- Spread a teaspoon of Dijon mustard on each piece of puff pastry.
- Place a slice of prosciutto on top of the mustard, then add a few asparagus stalks and a sprinkle of Gruyere cheese.
- Fold the pastry over the filling to create bundles and place them seam-side down on a baking sheet.
- Beat the egg and brush the tops of the bundles with the egg wash, then drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
- Sprinkle optional flaky sea salt on top and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm.
Notes
Make sure to keep the puff pastry cold until ready to use for best results. These bundles can be customized with different cheeses or vegetables.
