Ingredients

4 ½ cups all-purpose flour (spooned and levelled; plus more if needed)
1 tablespoon sugar
2 ÂĽ teaspoons instant yeast
1 teaspoon salt
1 ¾ cups warm milk (or water; around 110°F)
2 tablespoons melted butter
9 cups water
½ cup baking soda
1 large egg (mixed with 1 tablespoon of water)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- Pour in the warm milk and melted butter, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, about 5-7 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large pot, bring 9 cups of water to a boil and stir in the baking soda.
- Divide the risen dough into small pieces and shape each into a bite-sized ball.
- Boil each pretzel bite for 30 seconds, then transfer to the baking sheet.
- Brush with the egg wash and sprinkle with coarse salt.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
