4 green onions
chopped
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon sugar
1 tablespoon corn starch
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon rice vinegar
2 tablespoons oil
4 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
1 ½ teaspoons ground ginger
2 tablespoons minced garlic
1 cup soy sauce

1 ⅔ cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons cold water
1 ½ tablespoons corn starch

Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the marinade ingredients: baking soda, sugar, corn starch, soy sauce, and rice vinegar. Add the beef strips and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Heat the oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the toasted sesame oil, ginger, and minced garlic. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- In a saucepan, combine soy sauce, water, and brown sugar. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat.
- Mix cold water with corn starch in a small bowl. Slowly add this mixture to the sauce, stirring until thickened.
- Return the beef to the skillet, add green onions, and pour the sauce over. Stir to combine and heat through for another 2-3 minutes.
- Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds over cooked rice.
Notes
For an extra kick, add some red pepper flakes to the sauce.
