Description
Korean Beef Bulgogi is a flavorful and tender marinated beef dish that is perfect for grilling or stir-frying. The combination of savory soy sauce, sweet pear, and spicy gochujang creates a delicious balance of flavors.
Ingredients
1 ½ pounds boneless rib eye steak
½ small pear
peeled and coarsely grated
¼ cup reduced sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
3 cloves garlic
minced
1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
1 tablespoon gochujang
Korean red pepper paste
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
divided
2 green onions
thinly sliced
1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
Instructions
- Thinly slice the rib eye steak against the grain and set aside.
- In a bowl, combine the grated pear, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and gochujang to make the marinade.
- Add the sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the marinated beef in batches and cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through.
- Transfer the cooked beef to a serving platter, and drizzle with the remaining vegetable oil.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
For a spicier kick, adjust the amount of gochujang. Serve with steamed rice or lettuce leaves for wrapping.
