Ingredients
1 cup walnuts halves or pieces
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp water
1 lb large shrimp
peeled and deveined
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 large egg white
pinch of salt and black pepper
2 cups vegetable oil
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tbsp honey
1 tbsp condensed milk
1 tsp rice vinegar
sesame seeds
chopped green onions
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine walnuts, sugar, and water over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves and mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let cool; once cooled, break apart any clumps.
- In a bowl, whisk egg white, cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Add shrimp and coat evenly.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high. Fry shrimp in batches until golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- For the creamy sauce, mix mayonnaise, honey, condensed milk, and rice vinegar in a bowl until smooth.
- Toss fried shrimp in the creamy sauce and add the candied walnuts.
- Serve garnished with sesame seeds and chopped green onions, if desired.
Notes
For extra crunch, consider adding more candied walnuts. Adjust the sweetness of the sauce by adding more honey or condensed milk according to your taste.
