6 large egg yolks
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup heavy whipping cream
2 cups milk
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
pinch of salt
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
ground cinnamon

Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until pale and thick.
- Slowly add the heavy whipping cream and milk, mixing until combined.
- Stir in the ground nutmeg, pinch of salt, and vanilla extract.
- If desired, add alcohol at this stage (rum or bourbon works well).
- Refrigerate the eggnog for at least an hour to chill and develop flavors.
- Serve in glasses, topped with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon.
Notes
For a non-alcoholic version, simply omit the alcohol. Eggnog can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
