  • Total Time: 50
  • Yield: 4 servings
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

This Homemade Bagels Recipe yields deliciously chewy bagels with a golden crust, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Warm Water

Yeast

Bread Flour

Brown Sugar

Salt

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine warm water and yeast; let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  • Add bread flour, brown sugar, and salt to the yeast mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and bring a large pot of water to a boil.
  • Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 4 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and then form a hole in the center.
  • Boil the bagels in batches for about 1-2 minutes on each side, then transfer to a baking sheet.
  • Bake the bagels in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

For best results, let the bagels sit overnight in the fridge after shaping but before boiling.
