Delicious Green Velvet Cookies that are a festive twist on the classic red velvet, perfect for any celebration.
Ingredients
2¼ cups all-purpose flour (270g)
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder (12g)
1 tsp baking soda (5g)
¼ tsp salt (1.5g)
½ cup unsalted butter
softened (113g / 1 stick)
1 cup granulated sugar (200g)
1 large egg
room temperature
â…“ cup buttermilk
room temperature (80ml)
1½ tsp vanilla extract (7.5ml)
1½ tsp gel food coloring (green—Kelly or forest green)
1 tsp white vinegar (5ml)
1 cup white chocolate chips (170g)
½ cup white sanding sugar or green sparkling sugar for rolling (100g)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until creamy.
- Add the egg, buttermilk, vanilla extract, gel food coloring, and vinegar to the butter mixture and mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the white chocolate chips.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll them in the sanding sugar, and place them on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers are slightly soft.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For a deeper color, add more gel food coloring; the cookies stay soft, so don’t overbake them.
