  • Author: hafsahafsa
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: About 30 balls 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

These Festive Grinch Oreo Balls are a fun and whimsical Christmas treat! Made with crushed Oreos, creamy cheese, and a smooth green candy coating, these no-bake bites are as cute as they are delicious. Perfect for gifting, parties, or a holiday baking activity with kids.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Oreo Base:

1 (14.3-ounce) package Oreo cookies (about 36 cookies)

8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature

For the Coating:

12 ounces green candy melts (or white chocolate with green food coloring)

1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening (for smoother coating)

For Decoration:

3035 red heart sprinkles or candy hearts

Optional: Edible glitter or green sanding sugar for extra sparkle

Equipment Needed:

Food processor (or ziplock bag and rolling pin)

Mixing bowl

Baking sheet

Parchment paper

Microwave-safe bowl

Instructions

Step 1: Crush the Oreos
Place the Oreos in a food processor and pulse until fine crumbs form. Alternatively, use a ziplock bag and rolling pin to crush them.

Step 2: Mix in the Cream Cheese
Add softened cream cheese to the crumbs and mix until a smooth, dough-like texture forms.

Step 3: Form the Balls
Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Freeze for 15–20 minutes.

Step 4: Prepare the Candy Coating
Melt the candy melts with coconut oil in 20–30 second microwave intervals, stirring between each, until smooth. Add green food coloring if using white chocolate.

Step 5: Dip and Decorate
Dip each chilled ball into the melted coating, let excess drip off, and place on parchment paper. Quickly top with a red heart sprinkle before the coating sets.

Step 6: Let Them Set
Refrigerate the coated balls for 15–20 minutes until firm. Optionally, sprinkle edible glitter for a festive touch.

Notes

Chill the Oreo mixture before dipping to prevent crumbling.

Use quality candy melts for a smoother, vibrant finish.

Reheat the coating if it thickens during dipping.

Bar-style dipping forks or toothpicks make handling easier.
