2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)

3 large egg yolks

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 cup mascarpone cheese

1 cup heavy whipping cream

24 ladyfinger cookies

Cocoa powder

for dusting

Chocolate shavings (optional

for garnish)


Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until the mixture is thick and well combined.
  • Add the mascarpone cheese to the egg yolk mixture and gently fold until smooth.
  • In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form, then fold it into the mascarpone mixture.
  • In a shallow dish, combine the cooled coffee and coffee liqueur (if using).
  • Briefly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, making sure not to soak them, then layer half of the cookies in a serving dish.
  • Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and garnish with chocolate shavings if desired.

Notes
