Ingredients
1½ cups all-purpose flour
1½ cups granulated sugar
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter softened
4 large eggs room temperature
2 tablespoons lemon zest
â…“ cup fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup powdered sugar
2–3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice for glaze
1 tablespoon lemon zest for glaze
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the lemon zest and vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and lemon juice until combined. Gradually add this to the wet mixture and stir until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- While the brownies cool, prepare the lemon glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, and lemon zest until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more lemon juice if needed.
- Once the brownies have cooled completely, pour the glaze over the top and spread evenly.
- Cut into squares and enjoy your delicious lemon brownies!
Notes
For the best results, make sure your eggs are at room temperature and your butter is softened. Adjust the glaze according to your desired sweetness and tartness.
